About

about elly
My name is Elly Brooks and I love to take photographs.

I am pursuing my passion for travel, connecting with people and our vast landscape, through photography. To me, photography is about capturing people, locations, cultures and ideas. My aim is to take photographs that create an understanding and insight into the destination,  the people and their stories.

Eight years ago I travelled to Antarctica and South America. I bought a Canon 400D and a couple of lenses. On the plane over I read the instruction manual and I was inspired to capture the beauty and awe of the continent and the wildlife.

Since then I have strived to record the world as I see it, with honesty and compassion. I have travelled extensively and whilst my husband Alan writes our travel blogs, I take the photos and publish travel blogs and books.

In 2013 I completed a diploma of Photography with The Photographic Institute and I have attended several masterclasses.

In 2014, I, together with renowned photographer, Emanual Santos, photographed “March of The Living” journey to Berlin and Poland and then created a book comprising the history and photographs which was distributed to the participants and libraries. I have had several photos published and my Lamington National Park photograph won first prize in a regional photo competition.

My Gear Today: I have since upgraded to a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon 24-70mm f 2.8L,
Canon 70-200mm f 2.8L, Canon 100-400mm f 4.5-5.6

I have photographed weddings, model photo shoots and family portraits and I enjoy the huge scope of photography especially landscapes, wildlife and people. A number of my wildlife photos are exhibited on four new Anglo Eastern cargo ships.
